Knowledge on flood risk management and protection of the built environment has taken big steps forward, driven by the strategic goals of the Floods Directive and support from FP7 initiatives. Effective implementation, however, is dependent upon effective interaction with stakeholders, including policymakers. This topic is the subject of two special sessions at the FLOODRisk 2012 conference specifically set up to promote discussion, interaction and feedback between the conference participants.
